Wonderful Denia & Northern Costa Blanca

Denia is a beautiful typically Spanish coastal town situated between Valencia and Alicante, and is made picturesque by its setting at the base of Montgo mountain, with its own 'ramblas' style main street, castle and quaint old town opposite the harbour.

In contrast to much of Spain, the area has a really green feel to it due to the orange groves that surround the town. Frequently quoted as having the most ideal climate in Europe, with pleasant cooling breezes during Summer afternoons, it has a thriving fishing port, offers boat trips along the coast and daily ferries to Ibiza/Majorca.

During summer evenings the harbour area restaurants buzz and there is a nightly street market. There are many excellent quality shops and some of the best of the area's hundreds of restaurants are at the new marina.

One of the joys all year round is taking a nice stroll up the beach from where our lane comes out towards Denia harbour. This is Denia's lovely main sandy beach which stretches from Las Brisas/Les Marines along to the West side of the town. It is probably the loveliest beach in the whole of northern Costa Blanca being refreshingly undeveloped, unspoilt, uncrowded and relatively peaceful. The sea and golden sandy beach are gently shelving, making it ideal for small children, for games and for swimming and volleyball. Sunsets are often spectacular from the beach cafes and restaurants here.

There is a comprehensive manual at the property covering everything you need to know for your stay. We've devoted a section to getting out-and-about in the area. Take a leisurely trip to the Jalon Valley and stop for lunch at one of the many Spanish villages, or go on a day's outing to Guadalest village/fortress with a refreshing dip in the Fonts D'Algar pools and waterfalls and a spectacular mountain drive back, or visit the area's coastal headlands for wonderful views, sheltered coves and snorkelling.

For families looking for activities beyond the pool and the beaches, there is a Safari Park, Terra Mitica Theme Park and Aqualandia Water Park, all within 30-45 minutes drive. For golfers, there's a rich selection of quality courses nearby including the renowned Club La Sella less than 10 minutes drive away, plus more clubs at Javea, Oliva and Calpe. For tennis there's Denia Tennis Club.

Try horse-riding or biking through the surrounding orange groves. And of course there are all the beach sports to hand: volleyball, jet skis, diving, boating, surfing, windsurfing and quad biking. For sea-fishing there are numerous possibilities nearby. Just ask about anything else and we'll do our best to locate it for you.

Excellent restaurants, bars & Fiestas

There are literally hundreds of restaurants and bars in and around Denia, ranging from very exclusive ones, to excellent good-value establishments, to traditional tapas bars, to those suitable for families located right on the beach. We've devoted a section of our Guest Manual to help our guests during their stay.

As well as the harbour area bars and beach bars, Denia has a number of up-market, late night bars for groups and couples both in town and in the new marina.

Some of the area's best bars/restaurants are within close proximity of the villa. Right on the beach are restaurants that are perfect for families to relax while the children play on the sand both during daytime and evenings. Here there are also ice-cream parlours, and various shops including newsagent/baker and chemist.

Denia's claim to fame is having the most fiestas in Spain. We hope you'll be lucky to catch one, whether its bull-running or one of Denia's many processions along the town's main streets. Check with the Tourist Information Office.
